If you don't want to live in a state à la "1984" and you want that development and distribution of software should remain legal for everyone, then you have different possibilities to get into the act. We would like to recommend these five organisations:
At the moment I'm working at the new m23 10.4 version with high pressure and I know that I didn't write for a while. So here is lifesign from me and a first preview video for the upcomming version. In this video I present the completly re-written partitioning and formating dialog, that got a similar interactivity and freedom in setting up a harddisk as a local installed application (e.g. gparted). The order of the admistrator's actions is not predetermined any more and can be choosen freely.
But enough talking: Take a look and see how I partition an m23 client with three harddisks, create a RAID, format and add a mount point at the end.
Have fun!
The LinuxTag 2010 is over and I can only say that I'm exalted :-)
The visitors were numerous and very interested in m23 and (of course) in our m23 penguin quiz (Picture by Linux-Magazin). Several times we ran out of flyers virtually, but could re-print the needed sheets with the brought printer. Fantastic work - they prepared the network, the boothes and created wonderfull meals for the free projects - was done by the LinuxTag organisators. A very big "thank you" goes to all who supported the projects before and during the LinuxTag! We will try to be there next year again, if all works so smooth again ;-)
There were interesting talks with the other projects and exhibitors, because I was looking for interesting exhibitors and speeches for the Kieler Linux und Open Source Tage, among serveral one-on-one interviews about the features of m23. And two times I had the possibillity to introduce m23 in the Project-Fast-Forward with a three minute speech. In this time I sparked interest in m23 and tried to entice the listeners to the m23 booth.
Have fun and maybe till next year in Berlin (or till the Kieler Linux und Open Source Tage at 1th and 2nd of October 2010)!
Here are some last information for you, before we really start the day after tomorrow.
The final hall plans are ready now for both floors and all boothes are visible there: Hall 7.2 a, Hall 7.2 b. Our booth is there of course ;-)
It is located in Hall 7.2 b and has got the booth number 211. It can be found easyly, because it is directly in fron of the"Open Source Arena".
PS. There are still some free eTickets. Send me a mail with your forename and familyname and a valid eMail address, if you would like to get invited by me to get a free eTicket.
Have fun and maybe we will meet in Berlin!
We will give away some free eTickets for the LinuxTag 2010, as written before. There is no strict limit as there was for the CeBIT tickets and the LinuxTag tickets "work" different. So each owner of an eTicket can invite others to get an eTicket as well. These can invite other people with it and so on.
This system looks like a pyramid scheme, but without the negative characteristics ;-)
Send me a mail with your forename and familyname and a valid eMail address, if you would like to get invited by me to get a free eTicket. These informations are required by LinuxTag's eTicket system. It would be nice if you send only one request, if you want to go to the LinuxTag with your friends, and invite them by yourself, because I have to process each request by hand ;-)
You can send me a normal eMail or use the contact form ("Send message to developer") at the top right corner of the m23 page.
Have fun and maybe we will meet in Berlin!
The quiz master, that was annouced in the previous LinuxTag article, now finally enters the stage and (surprise, surprise) he is Tux himself ;-)
Tux will ask questions at the LinuxTag in Berlin and disapprove of wrong answers and agree to right answers in his charming way. If there is nobody to play with him, he will pass the time doing a snooze or getting a hiccup. You should have a look at the video, if you want to see him in action.
By the way: Our quiz master is the Tux Droid from Kysoh, that is programmable with a special API. Eyes, beak and wings are controllable directly and the text-to-speech function lets Tux read the questions (partly a bit blurred). The quiz tool is a modificated version of Freevial, that was extended by routines for accessing the Tux Droid and the m23 questions by me. The design was adopted to make it look more m23 like. You can download Freevial in the m23 edition here if you are interested in this version or want to practice before the LinuxTag.
Have fun!
