Ok, the LinuxTag is over now and we have rode it out. (If I ignore that I've forgotton a cardboard box with some things inside)

There were lot of listeners in our two speeched (some had to stand even in the Mombert room) and the from "Call-A-CD" sponsored CDs ran out earlier as though. The B.A.f.H. reading was really good to. A big commendation for all hard working organisators of the LinuxTag, that make it all possible.

There was a demonstration against software patente, with about 1000 demonstrating people. Of course we were among them.

We have taken a lot of pictures from the exibition and Karlsruhe.

It is done after a long time of preview releases:
The final version of m23Shiver 0.4.8 is available for download now!

In comparison to the last release there were the following changes:

  • The french online help, manual and administration interface war revised and completed.

  • A new script to install m23 on a "normal" Woody server.

  • And now a little overview on the 0.4.8 releases:

    • Manual in the languages Engish, French and German.

    • Added a script for updating the installed m23 version with the version contained on the CD.

    • Completed help files of the MDK menue system.

    • Generation of client boot CDs, that can be used to install clients without bootrom or floppy drive.

    • Selection of the Debian distribution (Woody, Sarge, Sid)

    • Rescue system: Clients can be booted over the network and give you a console to work on the client directly. This can be useful for recovery purposes.

    • Script for generation of static Knoppix DEB packages (hwsetup, ddcxinfo)

    • Gnome2 can be installed as alternative desktop.

    • Preview of package installation/deinstallation. So you are able to check if there will be any problems and how much disk space will be consumed/freed.

    • It is possible to define option pages for Debian packages, that show additional parameters, that can be used before and/or after the installation of a package. E.g. you can create an option page for the samba package that lets you enter the workgroupname etc.

    • Update of the development guide

    • Creation, deletion and editing of package source lists, that define where the client can fetch the software packages from.

The new version is available HERE.

    Have fun!
