Björn wrote two howtos for us. One is about the creation of an m23 bootimage with customised kernel and the other about the integration of external modules into this kernel.

You can find these howtos in the m23/wiki that is now secured with a random image you have to read. I had to do this because of spam in the wiki.

I've added a new long description text for m23 that explains what it is, what features are included etc. You can find this text via clicking on ">>> Read full article: 'Welcome to m23!'".

Have fun!

The update introduces support for the new Ubuntu releases Dapper and Edgy. These are directly installable via m23 now.

I have tested Dapper with the UbuntuDesktop and KDE, Edgy with Gnome and KDE. It worked well except for the KDM in Dapper that did not accept keyboard entries. This problem could be soved with a restart of the X server (I had the same problem with Debian Sid previously).

Support for Ubuntu Feisty is included too, but I had no time for testing. Please write down your experience in the forum, if you want to test it.

The support for the Gnome and UbuntuDesktop was enhanced too. The language and theme package are installed in addition to the m23 background image.

Please test the new version and
have fun!

The LDAP server in m23 didn't work any more since the conversion to Debian packages.

Thanks go to Marian for the hint.

There are new packages out now, that prepare the LDAP server for managing user accounts and configure the integrated phpLDAPAdmin and the m23 administration interface. The update recovers the full LDAP functionality of the previous m23 versions.

In some cases the DHCP server was not restarted after a client got deleted. This error was fixed with the new packages too and in addition it is possible now to use the m23 DHCP to distribute dynamic IPs to all computers in your network.

Thanks go to MisterA for the hint and the idea for the new feature.

The update is available via the m23 administration interface or via apt-get update; apt-get upgrade

Have fun!

m23 consists of a comprehensive amount of source code and a variety of components such as help texts, tools, a development kit etc., that all need to work together properly to make m23 function. It is a challenging task to develop and maintain a system as complex as m23. With some simple things you can support the development of m23.

Report bugs

m23 is a very complex system, that can hardly be tested exhaustively by the developing team. That is why we need your help! So please report bugs in the forum to get the bugs fixed quickly. You can find the forum here.

Send bugfixes

Giving the project your bugfixes is even better than just reporting bugs. Please send the changed/corrected files directly by eMail.

Enter your reference

No matter where you employ m23 - in your enterprise, another institution or only for your private cloud, other users would like to profit from your experience! You can tell us and others about it by filling in the m23 questionnaire (available in English, French and German).

Jobs

Currently announced jobs can be seen on the "SourceForge Help Wanted" page.

I'm releasing an ISO image of m23 halfBaked 0.5.3 in opposition to my previous announcement. You can get the ISO from here and burn it on a CD.

Have fun!
