Marian wrote in the forum that m23 could not be installed on prepartitioned servers with the m23 server installation CD. I fixed the installation routine and created a new ISO image with updated m23 packages. This new ISO is called "m23 0.5.3a halfBaked".

Have fun!

The broadcast and network ips are calculated automatically and correctly now. This should not only work for a single client but also during a mass installation. The old algorithm worked for class-c networks only. Thank you Obergandhi and n0ll4k for the hint.

The new m23 packages are now configured in a way that your changes on configuration files are kept. This is now included in the packages m23-ldap and m23-phpmyadmin. The m23 update server was reconfigured to keep the configuration files corresponding to other packages too (in case non-m23 packages get installed in addition). Thank you marian for the hint.

Have fun!

Today I took a bit of time to update the Wikipedia articles about m23. Some of the facts written there were rather old ;-)
Now all is (for a while) on current state and some eye-candy was added too.

Feel free to translate the Wikipedia articles to other languages ;-) Please contact me, if you have finished your translation or if you have questions.

Have fun!

The year 2006 is history now and there were some improvements from m23's point of view. I would like to give reason to thank all who brought forward m23 in the past year.

This are amongst others all who tested m23 untiringly and assiduously sent bug reports and patches (in alphabetical order): Bjoern, marian, MisterA, n0ll4k, Soeldi, Stefan und tradehaven.

Freemind for his work on the upcoming 64Bit m23, that will be (hopefully) as effective as in the last year ;-)

Maren for proofreading the German and English help texts and the translation to French.

And of course all I have forgotten ;-)

Have fun and success with m23 in this year!

I knew that m23 is not only useful for serious applications such as office desktops or webservers. I was a bit surprised when I found out that m23 was used to install game servers on the lan party Slaughterhouse #14. The administrator installed 41 servers with a Sarge base system and the game server software. The servers had AMD Athlon64 4000+ CPUs, 512MB DDR Ram, mainboards NForce3 chipset and 40GB IDE harddisks from Maxtor. 1225 gamers shared the 41 with m23 installed and additional 43 servers that were installed with a different system. The administrators created a kernel package and packages for Counterstrike 1.6 and Counterstrike Source. The rollout was done via the m23 group function.

Frederik Krämer (Teamleader game server): The installation was finished in short time because of the preparartion and the very fast support via the forum. This gave us a crucial advantage in time to test the game servers ample.
