If you don't want to live in a state à la "1984" and you want that development and distribution of software should remain legal for everyone, then you have different possibilities to get into the act. We would like to recommend these five organisations:
You have again the possibility to meet me at the CeBit this year. Write me an email if you are interested.
A little hint: There are free tickets again for the CeBit. Just look at this (German) page to get your free ticket.
Have fun!The new m23 questionaire is online now. It contains questions about your usage of m23 and what you like/dislike in m23. In addition you can write down your ideas about making m23 even better. I will try to make your input part of the future development of m23.
And of course I would like to know what you are doing with m23 ;-)
Click here to start the questionaire.
And now have fun answering my questions!
This release is a bug fix release that solves problems that may occur when installing the 0.7.0 packages on Debian Etch. There is no basic necessity to install this release if you have a working m23 server.
Now the server installation packages are secured with a digital signature to make foreign package manipulations impossible. m23 rock 0.7.1 installs the cryptographic key to authentificate the packages. And as a bonus you will never see the annoying warning message when installing unsigned m23 packages after the update again.
The new version is available via APT or the m23 webinterface.
Have fun!
There will be a speech held by Lars Schubert and me about the basic concepts of OpenSource and OpenSource software used in offices. The speech will be held in German so if you are interested please visit the German page of Kieler Linux- und OpenSource-Tage.
The new m23 version is the first release that is capable to be installed on a 64 bit Debian. In addition the 0.7.0 release should be installabe on all architectures supported by Debian. This is possible because all architeture dependend parts were made optionally or replaced. mknbi (the tool for creating Etherboot network bootimages) is now optional as it is only available on i386. But this should not be a big disadvantage because m23 is shipped with all needed network bootimages. Another tool that was used to encrypt the password for the clients was replaced by a PHP variant.
I could only test the new packages on amd64 due to a lack of different hardware. If you have installed Debian on PowerPC, Itanium, Alpha, HPPA or Mips it would be nice if you could install the m23 packages and report how m23 is working on these architectures.
The new release is available via APT or the update manager included in m23.
Have fun!
