The first m23 release with native 32 and 64 bit client support is ready for download. Now the 64 bit versions of the distributions Debian and Ubuntu can be installed on the popular 64 bit AMD and Intel CPUs. 64 bit computers, that were installed with m23 and 32 bit software before, can be migrated to 64 bit software by changing the computer architecture and starting the recovery mode in the m23 user interface. Of course it is possible to migrate from 64 bit to 32 bit software on 64 bit CPUs too.
In the course of enhancing m23 clients to 64 bit the hardware detection software was upgraded to the newest kudzu library. The detection rate should be increased in particular in detecting SATA hard disks. To bring the detection rate to the maximum, discover (another hardware detection software) is executed in addition.
I want to mention three corrections: Icons of detected drives are shown on the KDE desktop again to allow a quick access of CDRom and Co.. The client recovery does work now, even if the partitions are created already. And last but not least, all swap partitions should be detected and used even if marked with a "new swap type".
The other bug fixes and changes depend on changes made for enhancing m23 clients to 64 bit. A complete list of these changes can be found in the
Changelog.
