This doesn't help. Don't edit files by hand this may lead to serious errors.

You can't use the package sources list named "cds". This is only a template. If you want to use the Debian CDs, then you have to use the "Pool builder" in the webinterface.

The use of the CDs will be faster, if you install a package first. If you install the same package on different clients the CD method will not be faster because the downloaded packages are cached. I would recommend not to use CDs because they may be outdated and for security updates you need still an internet connection.

I've heard the kernels are on the last Woody CD (I've never tried it). The other applications seem to be spread over the CDs. You can look on the CDs and try to figure out what CDs contain the applications you want, but the only way to make sure that you can install all packages is to copy all CDs.

If you try it for speed reasons you shouldn't use the CDs. An application is downloaded only once and automatically cached on the server. If you have much clients with the same applications the "normal" way won't be much slower but the software more current.

No, this doesn't work (see the earlier posts).

 Use the "Pool builder" in the webinterface.

After creating the index copy the 2 lines shown at "Package sources" to a new package sources list.

  • Click on Packages -> Package sources
  • Copy the 2 lines is the text box
  • Select "Debian" as distribution
  • Click on "Select"
  • Enter a new name under "Package source name"
  • Enable the desktop (at leas Textmode & X) that are supported by the CDs
  • Click on "Save"

Noe you can use the sources list for installing a new client.
