okay , really thanks for your help Hauke, but i can't again succeeded :(

i repeat what i do :

4. choose "kernel"
5. choose "Download", "V2.4" // I choose the 2.4.28, downloaded rightly
6. select a kernel
7. wait until the kernel is downloaded and extracted
8. choose "ConfigureOld"
9. choose "m23-bootimage-linux-2.4.28.conf" // i choose this

and at this moment he write :

rm : cannot remove /tmp/kernelConfigFilem236930 : no such file or directory
cd /mdk/bootimage/kernel/linux-2.4.28

and he stay on this...no more... if i press enter i have the impression he choose all the parameters whithout ask me :/

and evidently when i try to boot the client, now it happened nothing ^^

where the problem come ?

Thank you for the hint with libncurses5-dev. This will become integrated into the next patch.

Do you have 1 or 2 harddisks in your client?

Can you send me the partitioning of hda and the other harddisk by:

Code:
parted -s /dev/hda print

There are shown some error messages while building the initrd. This is normal. Usually you can ignore them.

Quote:

When you assign a kernel to the client you can choose any kernel you want (as long as it matches your CPU type). I would prefer the 2.6.x. If you use Woody you should take the newest kernel.

Quote:

Switch to Debian "Testing" or "Unstable". Or have a look at www.apt-get.org. There you can get sources for newer kernels. you can include the package souce in the package sources list in the web interface.

with /mdk/bin/menuStart ??

No. This is only for the client installation and server boot CD kernels. It is not the kernel installed on the client.

Code:

I have a client with a networkcard using the same module without any problem. It should be detected automatic. But you can add a line with "eepro100" to /etc/modules to load it on every startup.

i have one hard disk.
the command parted -s /dev/hda print returns me :

disk geometry for /dev/hda : 0.000-9541.546 MB
disk label type : msdos
1 0.031 6002.226 primary ext3 boot

what means msdos ????

other thing, i tried to install paketages on my client, i select a package (xfce), makes the preview installation i don't have a button box for INSTALL the packages ! !

If i translate in french, i have a button who correspond the installation (installer les paquets selectionnés) , he tells me the operations have been done, but i not see a modification and work on the client Sad:(

how can i do for install packages on my client ?

That is the type of the disk label. It has to be set to a correct value. "msdos" works, so it is the standard type that m23 sets if there is no valid label type.

You should update your server. Use Server -> Update in the webinterface.

The installation is done in the background, if the client is running. There are no further messages. Maybe the packages are installed and you haven't noticed ;)

If the packages arn't installed you should check:

  • If there are pending jobs (in the webinterface "client overview")
  • If you can login from the server into the client without password. In a shell on the server:
    Code:
    ssh root@<clientIP>

  • If the work.php can be fetched. Login into the client:
    Code:
    wget https://<serverIP>/work.php

Afterwards you can post the contents of work.php
