Hi,

using m23 to deploy an installation of ubuntu, it seems possible with the disk partioning interface to create and use a separate /home partition with the « Define mointpoints » fields

I make different test indicating mountpoints : / (root) and /home , trying differents parameters, formatting in ext2 or in ext3, and trying to do it with a Ubuntu deploy and a Debian deploy, but each time with no success : a separate partition is always created but not used as the /home partition.

Did someone ever succeed to make this ? And if so,how precisely ?

I did the test using the « m23 11.4 rock VirtualBox (OVF) »  preconfigured virtual machine for Virtualbox.

Supplementary question : is it possible to instruct m23 to preserve an eventually pre-existing home partition (and thus the user data the partition contains), for the case we want m23 to reinstall linux on a « corrupted » wokstation , but without loosing the user data ?

Thank you in advance,
Sincerely yours,

Vincent

Hi,

please upgrade to the new m23 rock 12.1. There are many bugfixes and maybe this solves your problem too.

I will setup a new machine to check, if the problem exists for 12.1 too. But that may take some time Wink

Hi,

I've now build a patch that will solve the problem with mounting the extra partitions. The patch is uploaded now and should be available in a few minutes. Please update your m23 server.

For testing I created an extra home partition and all home data was stored on it.

Existing partitions should be addable into the fstab and readable too, as long as you don't format the partitions again and the file system is available in the distribution you want to install.
