Hello,

I downloaded the 'm23 15.1 rock' iso image to make a server.
I confirmed the hash md5 and I burned the cd-rom.
During the install process, when it is on the screen to choose the 'Installation language', the computer freezes, the keyboard doesn't work anymore and I'm forced to do a hard reset.
I tried with other computers and keyboards but the problem continues.
My keyboard is a Brazilian ABNT-2.
I have already installed other Linux distros, clients and servers, and never faced anything like that.

Could you give me a hint?

Thanks in advance.
Xavier.

Hi Xavier,

is it an USB or PS/2 keyboard?

Could you (if possible) use a PS/2 instead of an USB (or vice versa) keyboard?

Hi, Hauke

Thanks.

I had done that before having seen you reply and I could pass the 'Installation Language' step.
But it showed other errors during the remainder of the install. I tried with cd-rw and pendrive and no success.
Though, I could install the iso image in a VM and it worked. I'm going to check if it's a media problem or a bios setup.

By the way, I think that the problem with USB keyboard is a Debian problem as related here:

Okay so I figured out the problem. The kernel module ohci-pci is seperated from ohci-hcd in 3.11 but is not included in the initramfs.
I compiled the module myself and inserted it into the initramfs and now the installer works just fine.
Here's the debian bug: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=726957

Thanks for your support.

Hi Xavier,

the m23 server installation ISO doesn't use the Debian installer.

It is a very simple installation medium build from scratch with an installer script.

I've just checked: The ohci_hcd module is loaded automatically.

Did you find out more?
