I work for a retail company as a point of sale developer. We roll several different packages out about 8 times a year to aprox 1600 servers. Our current process utilizes a home grown application that takes our install package which is in zip format from the LAN and downloads it to our servers. We define in the application what time and date the file should download to the server and what time and date it should extract and install on the servers. This alows us to set a time frame up between download and install to verify that each step of the process is successful before continuing on. The application we have been using is causing some headaces due to timing issues on faster hardware.
Is m23 an appropriate replacement for what we are trying to do? |

I need more specific information about your software needs to give you an appropriate answer.
What kind of software do you distribute?
Are only data files or packages with data and a script part deployed?
Are there on-the-fly generated scripts?
What distribution do you use?
If you don't want to write these (maybe sensitive) information to the forum, you can write me an email. My GPG key is available from the project page too. Or you can contact me via Jabber or ICQ instant messaging. _________________ Hauke Goos-Habermann
