These templates for harddisks can be set up like real harddisks (partitioning, formatting, software RAIDS, partitions for installation and swap) The sizes you enter should be similar (or identical) to the real hardware in your clients, but the device names must be identical to the real device names. If the size of the template disk differs from the real size of the client's disk, the sizes of the respective partitions will be adjusted percentally.
Partition scheme
Predefined schemes for partitioning and formating the hard disk of the m23 client can be choosen here and executed by a click on ”Execute scheme”.
- Automatic partitioning: This scheme deletes all data from the first hard disk and creates two new partitions. The first partition is used for the operating system and data and the second for swapping.
Delete current partition
A click on ”Delete” removes the current (shown/selected at ”Current partition”) partition.
Create new partition
You can create a new partition in the free space of a hard disk with this function. Choose the start and end point of the new partition by clicking into the white space of a drive (on activated JavaScript) or by entering the values for its bordes into ”Start” and ”End”. Of course it is possible to create a partition that is smaler than the whole free area. Choose the type of the partition at ”Type” to select, if a primary, extended or logical partition should be created. Finally create it with a click to ”Add”.
